Rejuran (PN Skin Booster)
Rejuran is popular among visitors to Seoul, but it is not a single-visit treatment. Sessions are usually two to four weeks apart, with small bumps and sometimes marks for a day or two. Think of it as a course you start, not a one-time event.
How it works
Rejuran uses polynucleotides (PN), purified from salmon DNA, injected in tiny amounts into the skin. They are thought to support skin repair and hydration and may improve texture, fine lines and the look of scars over time. The effect builds with repeated sessions and varies by person.
Who it may suit
- Thin, tired or dull-looking skin
- Fine lines and shallow acne scars
- Sensitive skin that does not tolerate harsher treatments
- Delicate areas such as under the eyes, when appropriate
The treatment day
- Consultation. The doctor checks skin condition, allergies (including fish allergy) and what areas to treat.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for a period before the injections.
- Micro-injection. Many tiny injections are placed across the face or targeted areas.
- Settling. Small bumps usually fade within one to two days. Skin may look slightly red or tight.
Aftercare
- Keep the face clean and avoid makeup for about a day, or use clean mineral products if needed.
- Give saunas, hot baths and strenuous workouts a break for two days or so.
- Use gentle skincare and daily sunscreen.
- Do not rub or scrub the skin while marks fade.
- Contact the doctor for fever, spreading redness or increasing pain.
Things to know first
- Bumps, redness, swelling and bruising are common for a day or two.
- Not suited to people with fish or salmon allergy, pregnancy, breastfeeding or active skin infection.
- Rarely, lumps, infection or allergic reaction can occur.
- Results appear gradually, vary by person, and a single session may not be enough.
- Tell the doctor about blood thinners, which can increase bruising.
Planning Rejuran around a Seoul trip
Count the weeks. A typical course is three to four sessions two to four weeks apart, which fits a stay of a month or more. On a shorter trip, one or two sessions can start the process, with a plan to continue on a later visit or at home if the same treatment is available.
Pinpoint marks fade quickly, but give the first session a few days before photos or a flight. Keep a record of the product and number of sessions so another doctor can continue accurately.
Rejuran (PN Skin Booster): common questions
Will a single session do anything?
It may improve hydration and texture for some people, but the product is designed as a series. Expect modest change from one session.
How soon can I wear makeup?
Many people wait a day. Follow the doctor's advice.
Can I fly the next day?
Usually yes, since downtime is short. Bumps and redness may remain visible, so allow a day or two.
