PDRN Skin Booster
PDRN is a popular skin booster aimed at skin repair, texture and a healthy look. Recovery is brief, but the benefit usually comes from several sessions spaced a few weeks apart, which does not always match a visit's length.
How it works
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide, a material derived from salmon DNA. It is injected into the skin in tiny amounts and is thought to support repair, hydration and the skin's recovery from stress. Many people use it for dullness, fine lines and sensitive or damaged skin. Evidence is still developing, and results vary by person.
Who it may suit
- Dull, stressed or sun-exposed skin
- Fine lines and uneven texture
- Skin recovering from other procedures
- Visitors able to return or stay for repeat sessions
The treatment day
- Consultation. The doctor asks about allergies, particularly to fish, and about other treatments you have had or plan to have.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied before the session.
- Injection. Small injections are placed across the treatment area with a fine needle.
- Aftercare. Bumps typically fade in one to two days, and mild redness may follow.
Aftercare
- Keep the skin clean and avoid heavy makeup for a day.
- Avoid saunas, strenuous exercise and hot baths for a day or two.
- Moisturize and apply sunscreen daily.
- Do not pick at any pinpoint scabs.
- Report fever, spreading redness or ongoing pain.
Things to know first
- Small bumps, pinkness, puffiness and bruises often appear and settle within a day or two.
- Not suited to people with fish allergy, pregnancy, breastfeeding or active skin infection.
- Rarely, lumps, allergic reaction or infection can occur.
- Evidence for benefit is still limited and results vary by person.
- A single session may produce only a modest change.
Planning a PDRN booster around a Seoul trip
Think in terms of a series. A course is often three to five sessions about two to four weeks apart. If you can stay long enough, treat early and again at the interval the doctor suggests. If not, ask whether starting the course is worthwhile and how any follow-up would work back home.
Redness is mild, but the injections leave small marks that can be visible for a day or two. Avoid booking the session on the final day, so you have time to react if something looks unusual and are not flying with fresh needle marks.
PDRN Skin Booster: common questions
How is it different from Rejuran?
Both belong to the same family of polynucleotide boosters, with differences in product and concentration. The doctor can explain what is used.
Is one session worth it?
It may hydrate and refresh the skin for some people, but results build with repeat sessions.
Is it safe if I have a fish allergy?
Tell the doctor first. Products derived from fish are generally not suitable for people with such an allergy.
