Excel V

Excel V is a dual-wavelength vascular laser from Cutera; here is how a session fits a trip plan.

How it works

Excel V from Cutera is a laser for blood vessels that works at two wavelengths, 532 nm and 1064 nm. Both are absorbed by blood vessels to different degrees, with 532 nm useful for superficial vessels and 1064 nm for deeper ones. The laser energy heats vessel walls, and the body gradually absorbs treated vessels. It is used for redness, visible veins, and certain vascular marks.

Good to know

  • Reactions vary with wavelength and energy and include redness, swelling, or temporary darkening of treated vessels.
  • Bruise-like marks are possible at stronger settings and may take days to fade.
  • Cooling and sometimes numbing are used for comfort.
  • Multiple visits are normal, and results differ by vessel type and depth.

What a Excel V session means for your travel days

You may look flushed or mildly bruised for a few days, so treat early in the stay and avoid scheduling it near photographs or formal events.

Sun and heat can worsen redness. A cooler itinerary with indoor stops, plus sunscreen when your doctor approves it, makes the recovery period easier.

Excel V: common questions

Will vessels vanish right away?

Some fade quickly, while others need repeated treatment. Outcomes vary.

Can it treat rosacea?

It may help with visible vessels in rosacea, but it does not address every aspect. A doctor can advise.

Are bruises normal?

At certain settings, yes. Mention any concern during aftercare.
