PicoSure
PicoSure is a 755 nm picosecond laser from Cynosure; here is what sessions mean for a traveler's calendar.
How it works
PicoSure is a Cynosure picosecond laser that runs at 755 nm. The pulses last only picoseconds, a brevity meant to shatter up pigment particles mainly through a photoacoustic effect rather than prolonged heat. The body's cleanup system then clears the fragments over time. It is used for pigment and for some tattoo inks, with response depending on color, depth, and skin type.
Good to know
- The 755 nm wavelength responds well to some darker inks and pigments, but not to every color.
- Immediate reactions can range from faint pinkness to small frost-like spots or pinpoint bleeding, depending on the goal.
- Pigmented spots may darken and flake before fading over days to weeks.
- Several visits spaced weeks apart are common, and the outcome varies by person.
What a PicoSure session means for your travel days
A quick appointment can leave a spot-treated area crusted or darker for a week or so, which matters for beach or pool plans. Treat early and keep treated skin shaded.
Tattoo work is slow: fading happens between sessions, over weeks to months. A single Seoul visit is a starting point rather than a finished job, so ask how follow-up would work after you leave.
PicoSure: common questions
Can I swim after treatment?
Usually not while the skin is crusted or irritated. Ask the doctor when it is safe.
Will one session remove my tattoo?
Rarely. Most tattoos need several sessions, and results differ by ink, depth, and skin.
Is it safe to treat pigment on darker skin?
Care is needed because some lasers raise the risk of pigment changes. A doctor should assess your skin type.
