Discovery Pico
Discovery Pico, from Quanta System, has both picosecond and Q-switched settings; this page covers how that translates to trip planning.
How it works
Discovery Pico is a laser system from Quanta System that combines picosecond and Q-switched Nd:YAG capabilities. Q-switched pulses are in the nanosecond range, while picosecond pulses are far shorter. Both target pigment but with different pulse behavior and typical settings. Having both in one platform lets a practitioner pick a mode that matches the pigment, tattoo, or skin-quality goal.
Good to know
- Mode choice affects how the skin looks afterward, so ask which is planned.
- Low-energy toning-style sessions can leave minimal visible change, while spot or tattoo work leaves marks.
- Sensations include snapping or heat, and numbing may be used for tattoos.
- Plans usually need repeated visits, and individual responses vary.
What a Discovery Pico session means for your travel days
If the plan is a toning-style pass, you may only need a mild day afterward. For spot or ink work, picture small crusts or darkening and arrange outdoor plans accordingly.
Because tattoos fade slowly and sessions are spaced weeks apart, it helps to ask whether the clinic will give you a written note about settings so a doctor at home can continue if appropriate.
Discovery Pico: common questions
What is the difference between pico and Q-switched?
Pico pulses are shorter than Q-switched pulses. Both are used for pigment, and the doctor selects which fits.
Will I need numbing?
For larger or tattoo areas, often yes. Ask at the consultation.
How long until I can wear makeup?
That depends on how your skin looks. Follow the doctor's guidance.
