Hyaluronic Acid Skin Booster
Skin boosters of this kind are injected in tiny amounts across the face to improve hydration and a smooth, dewy look. Downtime is short, but the full effect needs more than one session, so the question for visitors is how many your stay allows.
How it works
A non-crosslinked or lightly crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel is placed just under the skin surface in many small points. Hyaluronic acid binds water, and the injections may improve hydration, fine surface lines and skin glow. Unlike filler, it does not add shape. Effects build over a short course and typically last a few months, varying by person.
Who it may suit
- Dry, dull or tired-looking skin after travel or sun
- Fine lines at the surface
- Rough texture and a lack of glow
- Visitors who want a refresh with little visible recovery
The treatment day
- Skin review. The doctor checks hydration, sensitivity, allergies and whether you have used other injectables recently.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied and left to work before treatment.
- Micro-injection. The gel is injected in tiny amounts across the cheeks, forehead or other chosen areas.
- Bumps fade. Small raised dots usually settle within hours to three days, and bruising is possible.
Aftercare
- Avoid touching or rubbing the face for the first hours.
- Skip makeup that day, or use clean mineral products if advised.
- Avoid saunas, hot baths and hard workouts for a day or two.
- Keep skin moisturized and wear sunscreen.
- Call the doctor for spreading redness, severe pain or unusual lumps.
Things to know first
- Bumps, redness, bruising and swelling can occur for one to three days.
- Now and then a lump or patchy spot shows up, and it normally settles.
- Rare complications include infection, allergic reaction and vascular events.
- Not suited to pregnancy, breastfeeding, active skin infection or hyaluronic acid allergy.
- Results vary by person, and maintenance sessions are needed.
Planning a hyaluronic acid booster around a Seoul trip
Place the first session early in the trip. The bumps are usually gone within a day or two, leaving you free for most activities, and any bruises have time to fade before you travel. A second session three to four weeks later is common, which may require a longer stay or a future visit.
On a short trip, a single session can still hydrate the skin, though the benefit may be modest. Bring a record of the product used, and ask whether the doctor recommends waiting for a gap in your schedule before a repeat.
Hyaluronic Acid Skin Booster: common questions
Is this the same as filler?
No. A booster is spread thinly through the skin to improve hydration and quality, while filler adds volume or shape.
Can I have it the day before I fly?
It is usually possible, but you may have small bumps or a bruise. Earlier is more comfortable.
How many sessions will I need?
Often two or three, though it depends on your skin. The doctor can suggest a plan that suits your length of stay.
